Thank You, and Goodbye

As the last days of TDZK wind down, and our time as an alliance comes to an end, I'd like to take a moment to say goodbye and thank everyone who has helped make this alliance what it was.

We've been through a lot over the years, and I am proud of all we've done. We've been through some of the best times the game has offered and also some of the worst. We've set standards for long term consistency, roster quality and stability that have never been and never will be matched in this game. We've accomplished things other alliances have never even attempted, and we've played the game to the fullest. We've been loved and despised, respected and scorned. And though it all, we've always stayed true to ourselves: always done our best to play ethically and honestly, to stay united and loyal to each other, and to aim high. When all is said and done and the silly events of this little game fade away, that strength of character is the only thing that has any meaning in the end.

Thank you to the old guard, for your continued loyalty, friendship and dedication over long years. This alliance would never have become what it was without you guys. Thank you also to all the more recent members, for helping to keep the fire burning and keeping this alliance vibrant and active with fresh blood. My only regret is that I did not have the chance to get to know many of you better, and that you did not get the chance to be in the alliance when we were at our best. Thank you to those of you that stayed active and tried to make stuff happen to the very end; I appreciate it, and it was the effort that counts. Thank you to all the subcommanders that made so many sacrifices for the alliance, to everyone that showed up to late night ops, and to everyone who spent many hours trading, hunting, raiding and RCing. Thank you to everyone that did their best for the alliance, for your good attitudes, maturity and loyalty. Thank you to everyone for the countless laughs and enjoyable hours on IRC and for making #fury feel like a second home.

I couldn't have asked for a better group of people to fly with. More than just being talented players, you were also genuinely good people who I was glad to get to know. In a TDZK community increasingly filled with morons, cheaters, hypocrites and trolls, Fury was a safe haven, an alliance filled with people I liked, trusted and respected, a place barely touched by the drama and pettiness, dishonesty and childishness inflicting so much of the game. I would never have enjoyed the game so much or for so long if not for the friends I made here and such a great alliance around me.

I wish you all the best, wherever you are and wherever you end up. #fury will keep running as long as there is interest, and I hope many of you will choose to drop onto IRC from time to time to chat. I hope we'll continue to stick together, to do things together, and to keep in touch. Fury will not return to TDZK, but I hope some of us will continue to fly together in other games. Overall, I hope that you enjoyed your time as a Fury member. So many of us have done our best to make Fury a place worth being, and if we've succeeded, it was all worth it in the end.

It truly was a pleasure, and a privilege, to have the chance to lead this alliance. Thanks for the good times and the memories.

I've always considered myself a permanent TDZK player, regardless of where I went or what I did, I always knew there would never be a reason to stop flying. The moment I touched down in Fury I knew I had walked into something special. You guys have been the most amazing experience in this game, and some of you have been way more than just alliance mates in an online game. You've taught me things, you've been there when I needed you, and we've all had a goddamn great time together.

I wouldn't be who I am without Fury, and I will shed more than one tear when we are gone and the doors close for the last time.

Much love...I loved every experience I had, from the mundane to the nights straight taking care of 8002 :) We were and always will be the greatest alliance this game has ever seen.

I love you all, thank you for giving me the chance to be something in this alliance, I'm honored. Take care to all, where ever life takes you

Your post brought a tear to my eye, Solace. I was trying to come up with something nice to say, but I can't seem to find words nearly as eloquent as the ones Solace used to describe his time with us. I may not have known it at the time, but I was VERY lucky to have been taken into Fury when I joined. When other alliances rose and fell, or simply disbanded at the slightest sign of controversy or loss, FURY remained strong and unified. Solace, you in particular always went above and beyond the call of duty to help others (like staying up all hours of the night to help proofread term papers :P) --sorry, had to say it, because it was a REALLY nice thing to do

I think we shouldn't say goodbye without also thanking Iccyh. Iccyh, you spacewargamegeniusyou, thanks for all the help and just being a nice guy over the time that we've been in Fury. I can't thank you enough for all the hard work and dedication you put forth in order for us to be successful and have fun playing. I know that there were many times that you probably wanted to give up on us and didn't. You're a good guy :)

Darthdan, thanks too for help with those term papers :P lol and thanks to dan, mak, blah, vt, myre?!, z0r and all the other subcoms that have helped FURY along our way. :) Thanks mardak for making all those tools to help us!

Fury has always been much more than an alliance in a space war game to me, you've been a great group of guys (and girls?!) to get to know during my time here and I hope that we stay in touch from time to time (would be interesting to find out if Greg either becomes a Chancellor or career criminal) :P

Ingen isn't here atm to make a post, but I know that he'd want to tell you that he was very happy to be part of this team as well.

Take care, good luck to everybody in everything that you do, and I hope to see all of you in chat from time to time :)

Well.. looks like I waited until the last minute to post. Here goes.

For me, playing TDZK isn't about playing TDZK. It's about you guys. When I joined up in 2.1, I had just moved across the country and basically had just spent an entire year with no friends. You guys helped me get through my senior year of high school without spiraling into depression or going crazy due to the pressure of all the crap that was going on in my life at the time. You guys were there for me as I made the transition into college; the one factor that stayed constant; something I could rely on. It saddens me to think that Fury won't be around to see me through my college graduation or eventual transition to the working world.

The alliance means a lot to me. I've sacrificed countless hours of my life in this game, giving my utmost effort to make sure that we're the best. This alliance is something special: every single member here is talented, dedicated, reliable (well mostly :P), but most of all: selfless. It is the teamwork and the respect, the comradery and the friendship that makes Fury great. We've proven time and again that it doesn't matter how many people you have, it's how well they can work together that will determine who emerges victorious. I'll miss our ops and late-night planning sessions something fierce.

However, I really hope that the end of TDZK's Fury doesn't mean the end of Fury as a group of friends. I plan on staying on IRC for the rest of eternity, and I'd like to keep playing with as many of you as I can.

For everyone who's ever been a member of Fury: I consider every one of you to be my friends. If you ever need anything, or just want to chat, track me down.
