The
end of Fury, and
options until round end Solace2007-04-02
01:42:46 EDTHi
everyone,
By now, you've probably seen Jerle's announcement that TDZK is being
shut down
for an extended period of time. If not, read his post
in the
announcements forum on the webboards.
We will not return for the rebirth of TDZK in 2008. This is Fury's last
round.
This decision was made several weeks ago. I was originally planning on
waiting
until we had rebuilt our raid team and the alliance was in better shape
before
posting this, but with Jerle's announcement, there would be a lot of
speculation and questions about the future of the alliance, and I don't
want
people to have false hopes or the wrong impression about Fury
returning.
We won't be back for a number of reasons. First, even before we had
decided to
disband, both Iccyh and myself had decided to step down as leaders. For
both of
us, leadership has become an increasingly demanding time commitment in
our
increasingly busy lives. Over the last several rounds, it has been more
and
more difficult, stressful, and work intensive to keep the alliance
functioning
at the level that we want it to be at (and that you guys deserve it to
be at),
for what have become increasingly diminished returns. We are at the
point where
neither of us can continue to sustain this, and there are no clear
options for
successors.
Even without Iccyh and myself, could the alliance survive through an
extended
downtime and be recreated when/if TDZK returns? Probably. Why won't we?
What it
basically all comes down to is a decision I made back in 2.2, and one
that I
still believe in. That decision is as follows: Once Fury crossed a peak
where
all signs point to our best being behind us instead of ahead, we would
disband
at a high, on our own terms, instead of enduring a slow, painful
decline and
fading away as a shadow of ourselves. The idea has never been to go on
indefinitely, but as only long as we could continue to be competitive,
active,
organized, and on top of the game.
With the state of the game and community degrading as it has the last
few
rounds, that point had already been passed. And with Jerle's
announcement, and
at least a year's gap between the end of this round and TDZK's possible
return,
the idea of keeping the alliance in good shape through a long downtime
and
returning to form again sometime in 2008 is pretty much unthinkable.
Thus, this
the last round of Fury's existence. We've had a great run, but all runs
have to
end sometime.
That said, this is not a goodbye message! There are still around two
months
left to play in the round, and Fury will still be around until the end
of 3.1.
The question is what you guys want to do. Our original plan had been to
try to
rebuild activity and cash and get the outpost raid team going again for
another
try at an outpost smashing run. At that point, I'd have made this post,
and
we'd have tried to play out our last month at the high level we're
accustomed
to. However, with Jerle's announcement, plans change. :P This is no
longer only
the last round for Fury, this is the last round for TDZK for a long
time. With
the knowledge that there's nothing after this, it may be even harder to
get
done what we'd need to get done to get activity up, cash back together,
and the
raid team together again.
So, I'm leaving these last two months in your hands. If we want to play
for
real and angle for another shot at outposts, leadership will do
everything we
can to make that happen. We have about 30 billion in the AA right now,
and
would need to double that or so to have a shot at hitting outposts
again.
However, there's absolutely no way we'd be able to do that without an
active
alliance behind us and players that are willing to make it happen. If
people
don't want to do that, that's okay too, and we could spend the time
doing
whatever, without trying to implement a plan; it would save us a lot of
time
and frustration trying to make something happen without the necessary
active
players to do it.
Either way, please share your thoughts on this. How we approach our
last months
is up to you. Quote | Edit | Delete

Re: The

options until round end Amazing Red2007-04-02 01:46:16 EDTfirst i'd like to say its been awesome to be in fury and fly
with people i've looked up to in TDZK, i'm sad to see it go down both fury and
tdzk. I believe the leadership have made the right decision.
For the rest of the round i'd like to just raid ports for money and kills, but
thats just me, i'm happy no matter which way we go :D

these last two months. Let's go out on the highest note possible under the circumstances
to leave us with awesome last memories of this great alliance that has been my
home for the past several rounds :D

Re: The

options until round end Zenko Tomaki2007-04-02 02:03:20 EDTEven though I'm the newbie to both TDZK and Fury I must say that
this alliance made me enjoy TDZK as a whole. I am saddened by the fact that
both TDZK and Fury are going to end and the fact that I wasn't in the alliance
long enough to experience some of the glory days. Even though this round wasn't
the best for Fury I had a lot of fun.
I would love being able to raid ports again cause those were some of the best
times I had in the game. Even if it's just for fun and not for money or
whatever. I just want to have some more time with you guys before the round is
over.

Seems a shame to break up a great alliance, but yeah a year gap is kinda
pushing it
Anyone got any plans moving into other games etc?

Re: The

that we`re ending I felt like I have lost a member of my family... You can
count on me that I`ll be back when TDZK reopens.
As for the current round.. As I have said before: BRING IT ON

Re: The
end of Fury, and
options until round end Dino2007-04-02 11:51:11 EDTDarn it, I just started to like raiding! I am all for taking
every other outpost in the galaxy. Let's burn the end of this round into
everyone's memory.
Since I clearly suck at NPCing, until we are ready to raid again, I will be
trading my ass off.
And like ZZ said, I just got here! I will be around for the restart also.

sombody has to organize NPCing to make all that cash.. and I'm not really the person
to do that. So, if someone can organize NPCing, I'll gladly participate.

there is no need of any organizing, NPC works solo just fine... also we can
trade for cash too. Quote | Edit | Delete

Re: The
end of Fury, and
options until round end Vips2007-04-07 21:47:49 EDTI've been in this alliance a long time. I saw the "glory
days" and I'd say we still have the stuff to do that. The decline in the
overall game that Jerle talks about is true. And without outside challenges its
been tough to stay motivated. But there's never been a better alliance from the
leadership to the members.
Since I'm no longer active enough to contribute significantly, I'm only going
to say I like the idea of going out strong and I'll help all I can.

Heh.
Indeed.
I`m sad and happy both at the same time, even if it sounds weird. I`m sad I wont
play anymore with you guys(not that I've been playing a lot in the past two or
three rounds),but at the same time I really have no time between the university
and my job. I pretty much grew up with most of the people in this alliance, even
though I know I left and rejoined numerous times. I want to appologize to
everyone I insulted through out the years. I`ll continue the way I was going
this round - being inactive. Thanks for everything guys, it's been sure nice
playing with all of you(well not all,but you know I have to say all :p). Many
of you might thought of me as a weirdo, mentally challanged,an idiot or
whatever... Well I am! But I`m glad I've spent a good part of the last 4 or
whatever years with you!
If someone ever wants to contact me my Skype id is initiate1210.
Good bye and everything best in your lives.
